MANILA — Senator JV Ejercito is urging Senator Ronald dela Rosa to voluntarily waive his salary and allowances while he remains absent from Senate duties.
According to reports, Dela Rosa has not been attending sessions or reporting for work since November 2025.
Ejercito said the appeal is based on fairness and accountability, noting that the Senate still lacks clear rules requiring members to attend official proceedings.
He pointed out that even Senate leadership has acknowledged that any policy enforcing attendance would take time, as it must undergo proper amendments and deliberation.
The senator emphasized that public officials should follow the same “no work, no pay” principle applied to ordinary citizens, stressing that holding public office comes with a responsibility to the people.
