MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has sanctioned a total of 908 personnel over a span of nearly eight months, from August 26, 2025 to April 15, 2026, as part of its intensified internal cleanup and zero-tolerance policy on wrongdoing.
According to official figures released Tuesday, 326 officers were removed from service. This includes 32 Police Commissioned Officers, 289 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, and five non-uniformed staff members. In addition, 53 personnel were demoted, 199 were suspended, and 26 were reprimanded. A further 304 cases were either dismissed or cleared following investigation and due process.
Data from the PNP showed that the leading cause of dismissal was absence without official leave (AWOL), accounting for 118 cases. Other major offenses included robbery and extortion (33 cases) and various serious violations (44 cases). Additional disciplinary actions involved cases of unlawful arrest, arbitrary detention, violation of domicile, and abuse of detainees, totaling 24 incidents. There were also 23 violations linked to the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
Other serious offenses recorded included murder, illegal use of firearms, corruption-related charges, rape, kidnapping, and estafa.
The PNP emphasized that all cases were processed through proper administrative hearings and legal procedures before sanctions were imposed.
Meanwhile, drug-related violations reached 24 cases, involving personnel who tested positive for illegal drugs or were linked to drug-related activities. Additional infractions included 12 violations of the Anti-Hazing Law, 8 cases involving planting of evidence under firearms law provisions, and 2 violations of the Anti-Torture Act.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said these figures reflect only a small fraction of the entire police organization, stressing that most officers continue to perform their duties with professionalism and integrity.
