
MANILA – A significant majority of Filipinos support holding an impeachment trial for Vice President Sara Duterte, according to the latest survey conducted by OCTA Research.
The poll, carried out from March 19 to 25, 2026, among 1,200 respondents, found that 69 percent believe Duterte should face trial before the Senate or an impeachment court to address the allegations against her. In contrast, 28 percent opposed the move, while 3 percent remained undecided.
The Visayas recorded the strongest backing for the proposed trial at 83 percent, followed by the National Capital Region at 81 percent and Balance Luzon at 69 percent. Support was lowest in Mindanao at 61 percent, which also registered the highest level of opposition at 38 percent.
By age group, younger Filipinos aged 18 to 24 showed the highest level of support at 77 percent, followed by those aged 35 to 44 at 73 percent. Meanwhile, respondents aged 45 to 54 posted lower approval at 60 percent.
The survey also indicated that support was more pronounced in rural areas (75 percent) compared to urban areas (63 percent).
Awareness of the impeachment case was high, with 87 percent of respondents saying they were familiar with the issue, while 12 percent said they were not.
OCTA noted that the survey carries a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
