MANILA – Adamson University once again asserted its dominance in UAAP softball, sweeping the finals and blanking the University of the Philippines (UP), 5-0, in Game 2 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium on Friday.
The victory sealed the Lady Falcons’ historic 13th consecutive championship, further cementing their legacy as the most successful team in the league with 21 titles overall. Adamson also took Game 1 via the same 5-0 scoreline earlier in the week.
Head coach Ana Santiago expressed pride in her squad’s commitment to maintaining the program’s winning tradition, emphasizing the discipline and preparation required to stay on top.
Adamson capitalized early, taking advantage of defensive lapses by UP in the opening inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Reyae Villamin’s deep hit triggered the scoring, followed by another fielding error that allowed her to cross home plate.
Season MVP Mae Langga sparked the offense in the third inning with a triple, helping extend the lead. A string of hits from Mea Tubongbanua, Jhaycel Roldan, and MJ Libaton later padded the advantage to five runs.
On the defensive end, pitcher Glory Alonzo delivered a solid performance, tallying five strikeouts and shutting down UP’s attempts to rally. She also earned Finals MVP honors along with her second Best Pitcher award.
UP threatened late in the game but failed to capitalize, as Adamson held firm to complete the shutout.
Langga, in her final season, also topped the league in RBIs and home runs, capping her collegiate career on a high note.
