MANILA — The City Government here is launching the “Biyayang Bigas sa Maynila” program, a six-month initiative that will provide 10 kilos of free rice to 80,000 families starting April 16. Mayor Isko Moreno announced the program, which aims to support vulnerable sectors amidst the current economic crisis.
The program is made possible through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), with the city receiving ₱286 million for its implementation.
“Biyayang Bigas sa Maynila” will not only benefit transportation workers but also other sectors, providing them with a much-needed boost.
By supporting local farmers, the program aims to stimulate the local economy while providing essential assistance to families in need.
Mayor Moreno emphasized the city’s commitment to helping its residents, especially during challenging times.
The program will cover various sectors, including transportation workers, informal settlers, and other vulnerable groups. With 80,000 families set to benefit, the initiative is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of many Manileños.
The distribution of rice will start on April 16, and beneficiaries will receive 10 kilos of rice.
