MANILA – Generally pleasant weather will greet most parts of the country on Thursday’s Day of Valor, though localized thunderstorms may bring sudden downpours, PAGASA reported.
A high-pressure ridge stretching over Luzon is currently affecting the country, resulting in partly cloudy to cloudy skies nationwide.
The weather bureau said Metro Manila and nearby areas may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially later in the day.
Authorities also warned that stronger thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides in high-risk locations.
At the same time, PAGASA is tracking a tropical depression outside PAR, situated thousands of kilometers east of Mindanao. The system has maximum winds of 55 kph and gusts reaching 70 kph as it slowly moves westward.
While it poses no immediate threat, forecasters continue to monitor its development. The cyclone will be assigned the local name “Caloy” upon entering the country’s monitoring area.
Meanwhile, high heat index levels are expected, with Cotabato City, Maguindanao, and Dumangas, Iloilo potentially hitting 42°C. Metro Manila could see heat indices between 37°C and 38°C.
