MANILA – Warm and humid weather will continue to dominate across the Philippines, the state weather bureau reported Wednesday, even as Typhoon “Sinlaku” weakens and poses no threat to the country.
According to weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of PAGASA, the weather disturbance has already weakened into a typhoon and is now unlikely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
She emphasized that “Sinlaku” is not expected to bring any weather disturbances to any part of the country.
Despite this, generally hot conditions will prevail nationwide, with isolated thunderstorms or brief rain showers still possible in some areas.
Temperature readings are forecast to peak at 36°C in Tuguegarao, while Metro Manila, Davao, and Zamboanga may experience highs of up to 34°C.
Dominguez also warned that the heat index could soar to as high as 45°C in Cotabato City, Maguindanao. In Metro Manila, the heat index may range between 36°C and 38°C.
Authorities are advising the public to limit outdoor activities, especially during midday to early afternoon hours. Residents are also encouraged to stay hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, and bring protective gear such as umbrellas when heading outside.
Meanwhile, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions are expected to continue across the archipelago.
