MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is set to enforce a stricter curfew policy for individuals under 18 years old as part of efforts to improve public safety.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced that minors will no longer be allowed to stay in public places after 10 p.m. unless they can show proof that they are working or attending school.
According to Remulla, the enhanced curfew ordinance aims to keep young people off the streets late at night and prevent them from getting involved in unlawful activities.
“Umuwi na kayo sa mga bahay ninyo,” Remulla said, warning that authorities will begin apprehending minors found outside beyond the designated curfew hours.
The DILG chief explained that the policy is part of the government’s broader “safer streets” campaign, which seeks to bring down crime rates and strengthen community safety across the country.
Officials expect the stricter enforcement of curfew rules to discourage youth involvement in street-related offenses and contribute to safer neighborhoods.
