MANILA — A bus driver is facing disciplinary action from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after a video of him running a red light went viral.
The incident, captured by a motorist, shows the bus crossing an intersection despite the signal being red. The video has sparked widespread outrage and calls for stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
The LTFRB has issued a show cause order against the bus company and driver, requiring them to explain why they shouldn’t be held liable.
“We are investigating to determine if the bus was carrying passengers at the time of the incident,” said LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II. The agency is taking the incident seriously and is committed to taking action against those who flout traffic rules.
The driver may face penalties, including suspension or revocation of his license, while the bus company may be held liable for employing a reckless driver and breaching its franchise agreement.
The LTFRB has emphasized that it will not tolerate such behavior and will take firm action against those who put public safety at risk.
The incident highlights the LTFRB’s efforts to enforce traffic regulations and ensure public safety. The agency has been working to improve road safety and reduce accidents, and this latest incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic rules.
The LTFRB is urging all drivers to prioritize safety and respect traffic laws to avoid similar consequences.
