MANILA — A joint operation by authorities in Benguet led to the discovery of a sophisticated greenhouse containing a large quantity of marijuana plants.
The raid, conducted in a remote area of the province, resulted in the arrest of caretakers Ronald Reyes, 35, and Maria Santos, 28.
According to reports, the greenhouse was hidden behind a residential area in La Trinidad, Benguet and contained hundreds of marijuana plants at various stages of growth. The plants were seized, and the caretakers were taken into custody.
The operation was carried out by a team consisting of personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Benguet Provincial Police, and La Trinidad Municipal Police.
The suspects are facing charges related to the cultivation and possession of illegal drugs.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Authorities are investigating the origins of the greenhouse and potential connections to larger trafficking networks.
