MANILA — The national government will study the possibility of providing cash aid to minimum wage earners, the middle class, and other government workers affected by tensions in the Middle East.
“Pag-aaralan ‘yan depende sa budget,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said, referring to the proposal to extend cash aid to other sectors.
Castro clarified that the government prioritized the transportation sector as it is the most affected by the increase in fuel prices.
“Nauna nang nabigyan ang transport sector dahil sila ang unang tinamaan at kailangang-kailangan nila ng ayuda. Pero ang Pangulo, sinabi natin, binabalanse ang tulong sa ating mga kababayan. Kaya nga hindi agad pinayagang magtaas ng pamasahe para ang lahat dito ay makinabang din dahil nga ang unang binigyang ayuda ay ang transport sector,” she said.
“Unang-una, lahat tayo, walang pinipili ang Pangulo. Nabibiyayaan na. Kung kayo ay sumasakay sa MRT, sa LRT, kayo ay nabibiyayaan ng 50 percent discount. At may mga libreng sakay tayo na maaaring ma-avail ng ating mga kababayan,” the Palace Press Officer added.
