MANILA — Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson has placed responsibility on former US President Donald Trump for the ongoing global instability following the US-Israel attack on Iran.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Lacson expressed concern over the worldwide effects of the military action, citing rising fuel costs in the Philippines as one tangible example. Diesel now exceeds P130 per liter, while gasoline tops P100 per liter.
“The world, including the Philippines, is reeling from a crisis triggered by President Trump’s failed brinkmanship,” Lacson said.
He insisted that Trump “should be held accountable by the entire international community, including the United States.”
Addressing questions about possible alternatives, Lacson said these were lost when the US “failed to consult its allies before launching the strike,” adding that previous leaders would have coordinated closely with their partners.
Lacson further condemned the conflict for drawing multiple nations into its orbit, blaming it on “the narcissistic arrogance of one leader of the free world.”
He also warned that with the Nordic Alliance and Canada potentially joining NATO in response to the conflict, the crisis could escalate further, affecting global stability.
