MANILA – Weather systems affecting the country are expected to bring isolated rains and thunderstorms across several areas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday.
The state weather bureau said the northeast monsoon (amihan) continues to affect extreme northern Luzon. Areas such as Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rainfall, although no major weather disturbances are anticipated.
Elsewhere, Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon, and the Visayas are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by easterlies. PAGASA cautioned that stronger thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides in some areas.
In Mindanao, localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions, including occasional rain showers and thunderstorms that could trigger flooding or landslides in susceptible locations.
For sea conditions, light to moderate winds from the northeast to north will prevail over Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, with waves ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast, with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
Data from PAGASA’s Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City showed that the day’s highest temperature reached 31.3°C, while the lowest temperature was 23.7°C early in the morning.
