MANILA – Church authorities have raised alarm following a series of thefts involving sacred items from four parishes under the Diocese of Baguio during the past two months.
According to the diocese’s Social Communications office, several liturgical vessels and church accessories disappeared between January and February 2026.
Among the affected churches was the Conversion of St. Paul Parish, where thieves reportedly took a candle stand, censer, incense boat, and other altar server items.
A separate incident occurred at the Immaculate Conception Parish, where a censer and incense boat were stolen.
At the Our Lady of Fatima Parish, church authorities reported the loss of a chalice along with a censer and incense boat.
Meanwhile, the Don Bosco Parish also reported that an ordination chalice had gone missing.
The diocese has advised parish priests and staff to tighten security and ensure that church property is properly safeguarded.
Church leaders likewise appealed for public cooperation, urging anyone who may encounter suspicious offers to sell liturgical items to immediately inform the Curia Information Office or the concerned parishes.
