MANILA – Parts of the country will continue to experience rain showers as the northeast monsoon and the trough of Tropical Storm Nuri (2603) influence weather conditions, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
As of early Thursday morning, the tropical storm was spotted 1,415 km east of Eastern Visayas with sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts up to 80 kph, moving east-northeast at 10 kph. It remains outside the country’s monitoring area.
Cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte due to the storm’s trough, raising the possibility of flash floods and landslides during periods of heavier rainfall.
Meanwhile, Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will likely experience rainy conditions brought by the northeast monsoon.
Light rains may also affect other parts of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Apayao, and Kalinga.
Elsewhere, including much of Mindanao and parts of the Eastern Visayas, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may develop due to localized weather patterns.
For Metro Manila and most areas of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rains are expected.
Strong winds from the northeast will affect the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the Visayas and Mindanao, producing moderate to rough coastal waters.
PAGASA said temperatures recorded at its Science Garden station in Diliman ranged between 20.2°C and 30.6°C over the past day.
