
MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived back in the Philippines Wednesday night after completing a working visit to New York City focused on diplomacy, economic promotion, and strengthening the country’s role in global affairs.
According to Malacañang, the presidential flight carrying Marcos and his delegation landed at 11:29 p.m.
While in New York, Marcos participated in the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations headquarters, where he emphasized that empowering women is a crucial step toward national development.
He called for stronger education systems and collective efforts to combat violence against women while encouraging greater participation of women in leadership and decision-making.
Marcos also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to reaffirm the Philippines’ commitment to multilateral cooperation.
Addressing representatives of 193 member states during a special session of the United Nations General Assembly, the President underscored the importance of international law, cooperation among nations, and resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
During the visit, he reiterated the Philippines’ aspiration to secure a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
The trip also included meetings with investors and financial leaders to promote business opportunities in the Philippines.
Executives from U.S. Medical Glove Company discussed plans to establish a manufacturing plant in the country that could provide over 2,000 jobs.
Marcos likewise held talks with officials from J.P. Morgan regarding global economic developments and the potential impact of geopolitical tensions on oil prices and financial markets.
