MANILA – Investors are showing renewed confidence in the Philippine economy as government infrastructure projects continue to expand, industry leaders said during the 14th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards in Makati City on Wednesday.
Japan Balboa, Vice President of Robinsons Offices, pointed out the strong performance of the office space market. “The IT-BPM sector’s steady growth over the years is encouraging, even amid global competition and U.S. policy uncertainties,” he said. Balboa noted that office space demand is expected to remain high, with around 2 million BPO employees projected by the end of the year.
Some businesses are opting for flexible office setups to meet seasonal needs or test domestic operations, with Balboa predicting this approach will become a long-term strategy.
“Our priority is maintaining high-quality projects, serving our clients well, and highlighting the Philippines as an attractive business destination,” he said.
Jolan Formalejo of Aboitiz Economic Estates pointed to the country’s investment-friendly policies, including incentives for businesses and the 99-year lease option for foreign investors, as key factors attracting foreign interest.
“This is drawing regional players to the Philippines, and combined with improved infrastructure connectivity across economic corridors, it further strengthens the country’s investment prospects,” Formalejo said.
Ambassador Chantal Wong, founder of CW Consultants and former U.S. Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank, remarked that the Philippines’ infrastructure initiatives, backed by robust ADB financing, are expected to transform economic corridors and unlock major new investment opportunities.
