MANILA — A 19-year-old maritime student in Cavite was brutally tortured and killed in a hazing incident, igniting widespread outrage. Kenneth Alcedo was brought to a hospital by three men who claimed he had been involved in a hit-and-run, but a medical examination revealed severe injuries, including chili seeds forcibly inserted into his private parts.
One suspect, identified as “JM,” has surrendered and admitted involvement in the hazing. The incident has raised alarm over the persistence of hazing in schools and the effectiveness of anti-hazing laws.
PNTC Colleges, where Alcedo was enrolled, condemned the act and pledged full cooperation with authorities. The case underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of anti-hazing regulations and greater support for victims.
