MANILA — The Department of Health–National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) recently brought together barangay chairmen from across Metro Manila to prepare for the upcoming Ligtas-Tigdas Campaign, a key initiative aimed at fighting measles and rubella in the region.
During the three-day meeting in Manila, Punong Barangays from high-risk and high-yield areas pledged their support for the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Activity. Discussions centered on assessing the current measles-rubella situation in NCR, reviewing the campaign brief, defining the roles of barangay leaders in the Supplemental Immunization Activity, and developing a communication plan for the region.
The initiative seeks to strengthen coordination among local governments ahead of the Ligtas-Tigdas Campaign scheduled for June 2026. Through this collaborative effort, DOH-NCR aims to safeguard children against measles and rubella via vaccination. The Punong Barangays reaffirmed their commitment, which is expected to help boost vaccination coverage across the capital region.
