MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or amihan is bringing cooler weather to parts of Northern Luzon today, Tuesday, November 3, while isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected across the rest of the country, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies with isolated light rain due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances.
PAGASA cautioned that thunderstorms could become severe in some areas, bringing possible flash floods or landslides, particularly in communities near rivers, waterways and mountainous terrain.
The northeast monsoon is also expected to bring moderate winds from the northeast and moderate coastal waters over extreme Northern Luzon. Other parts of the archipelago will generally experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor Severe Tropical Storm In-Fa, which remained outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of early Tuesday.
The weather disturbance was estimated at 1,870 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph and peak gusts up to 135 kph. It was moving west-northwestward at 10 kph.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant, especially during afternoon and evening thunderstorms, and monitor official weather updates for possible changes in local conditions.
