MANILA — A man allegedly became confrontational with a police officer and resisted being handcuffed, resulting in his arrest at the open parking area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 complex on Thursday night.
The 26-year-old suspect was reportedly apprehended after failing to heed repeated warnings against conducting unauthorized porter activities within the airport premises.
According to initial reports, a police officer encountered the man during a patrol and ordered him to leave the area. The suspect allegedly ignored the directive, prompting the officer to issue a City Ordinance Violation Receipt.
The man reportedly reacted angrily, directing insulting and profane language at the officer and asking why he was always being targeted.
His alleged outburst continued despite repeated instructions to leave the premises, the report said.
Matters worsened when the officer moved to place him under arrest. The suspect allegedly resisted the handcuffing attempt, struggled against the officer and pushed him, causing the law enforcer to stagger backward.
A security guard was said to have witnessed the altercation.
Following the incident, the suspect was taken to the Mobile Patrol Security Unit. He is facing complaints under Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code for alleged unjust vexation and Article 151 for alleged resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
The allegations remain subject to the appropriate legal proceedings.
