MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to persist in several parts of the Philippines on Thursday, October 15, as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and prevailing wind systems continue to influence the country’s weather, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said its weekly outlook covering October 13 to 16 indicated that the ITCZ could bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and the Davao Region.
The Bicol Region, Quezon and Marinduque may also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the prevailing easterlies along the eastern section of Southern Luzon.
Meanwhile, the northeasterly windflow is expected to continue affecting Northern and Central Luzon, bringing rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao and Aurora.
Other areas may generally experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly during the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable communities. Residents are advised to remain alert, particularly in areas prone to flooding and rain-induced landslides.
Motorists and commuters should also prepare for sudden downpours that could affect visibility and road conditions.
The weather bureau reminded the public that forecasts may change and urged residents to monitor its latest weather bulletins and advisories for updates on local conditions and possible weather disturbances.
