MANILA — The Senate impeachment court will examine more bank records Wednesday as the prosecution presses its case against Vice President Sara Duterte over alleged unexplained wealth.
Bank officials from Asia United Bank, Philippine Savings Bank, Metrobank, Security Bank, BPI, PNB and BDO are scheduled to testify on accounts held by Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio.
The prosecution said the records cover at least 30 accounts across eight banks from 2022 to 2025, with combined year-end balances exceeding P190 million.
The figures are being presented as evidence in the prosecution’s Article II allegation, with prosecutors seeking to compare the bank balances against Duterte’s sworn Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
The financial trail began coming into sharper focus Tuesday when LandBank Davao R. Magsaysay branch manager Raquel dela Cerna testified on Carpio’s account ending in 2370.
She said the account had year-end balances of P505,517.35 in 2022, P953,681.42 in 2023, P115,824.20 in 2024 and P1.358 million in 2025.
After the bank witnesses, an FWD Life Insurance Corp. executive is expected to testify on insurance records involving the couple.
The prosecution is building its case account by account, bank by bank, as it seeks to establish whether the financial records match the assets declared under oath.
For Day 35, the impeachment court is set to follow the money trail—one account at a time.
