MANILA — A man ranked among the most wanted suspects in the Manila Police District (MPD) was arrested in Ermita after police served a warrant for his arrest in connection with a murder case.
Arrested at about 10 a.m. on September 29, 2026, was Angelito De Josep y Baron, also known as Joshua Jay De Joseph and De Josep, 36, a married crane operator and resident of Tanza, Cavite.
Police identified De Josep as No. 6 on the MPD district-level most wanted list and No. 2 at the station level.
Operatives of the MPD Warrant and Subpoena Section, led by PMAJ Genesis C. Aliling, arrested De Josep in front of a 7-Eleven convenience store along Antonio Villegas Street, Barangay 659, Ermita, Manila.
The arrest was carried out on the strength of a warrant issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 8 Presiding Judge Cynara Hannah Cayton in connection with Criminal Case No. R-MNL-26-05390-CR, dated September 9, 2026.
The case involves murder, and the warrant carries no bail recommendation, according to the police report.
Police said the arresting team used authorized recording devices during the implementation of the warrant in compliance with A.M. No. 21-06-08-SC.
De Josep was informed of his constitutional rights in a language known to and understood by him.
He was subsequently placed under custody at the MPD Police Station 2 custodial facility pending the return of the warrant to the issuing court.
