MANILA — Don’t put away the umbrella just yet.
The Philippines is in for another day of hot and humid weather punctuated by isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, with the same unsettled conditions expected to continue tomorrow, Thursday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail across the country today, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible, particularly during the afternoon and evening. The same general pattern is expected through Friday.
Northern Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching as high as 33°C. Southern Luzon will likewise experience similar conditions, with temperatures reaching around 32°C.
The weather outlook is much the same in the Visayas and Mindanao, where localized thunderstorms could bring brief periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning.
PAGASA’s latest outlook for selected tourist destinations also points to generally unsettled weather. Puerto Galera and Anilao are expected to have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms today and tomorrow, while Camiguin is forecast to remain cloudy with rain showers and thunderstorms.
But the rain will not necessarily mean cooler weather.
PAGASA’s longer-range forecast indicates that warmer-than-usual conditions are likely over much of Luzon and some portions of the Visayas and Mindanao beginning Thursday and through the following week.
For commuters, travelers and outdoor workers, the combination of high temperatures and sudden thunderstorms means weather conditions may change quickly, particularly from afternoon into evening.
PAGASA advised the public to monitor its latest weather bulletins and advisories, especially in areas prone to flooding, landslides and other hazards during heavy rainfall.
