BATANGAS — Three South Korean nationals engaged in a diving activity were rescued after they were found clinging to one another and drifting in the waters between Batangas and Mindoro.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. (Aug 11) while a FastCat ferry was sailing from Batangas Port to Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
The three Korean nationals had reportedly been diving near Sabang, Puerto Galera, when they were carried away from the area and became separated from their service boat.
With no boat available to take them back, the divers held on to one another as they remained afloat in the middle of the sea while waiting for assistance.
The FastCat crew immediately maneuvered the ferry toward their location after spotting the divers. A lifeboat was also deployed to safely reach and retrieve them.
The three divers were successfully brought aboard and assisted by the ferry crew, the PCG reported.
