BARANGAY UGONG, Pasig City — Following the extensive damage brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, or Habagat, work repair crews of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) have gone on 24/7 duty to restore electricity service in areas affected by weather disturbance.
In a statement, Meralco vice president and corporate communications head Joe Zaldarriaga disclosed that they have already ordered its personnel to conduct round-the-clock restoration works while observing safety protocols with crews deployed to affected communities.
Among the areas seeing restoration efforts include Meycauayan in Bulacan where there has been damage in power lines and electrical posts.
“We thank our customers for their patience and their help in reporting outages in their areas, which allowed us to expedite restoration efforts. Rest assured that crews will not stop until service is fully restored up to the last affected customer as soon as possible,” Zaldarriaga enthused.
As of this morning today, the number of customers affected by power interruptions had declined to around 18,000, representing less than one percentof Meralco’s total customer base.
Most of the remaining affected customers are in parts of Cavite province while others are in Metro Manila and adjacent areas in Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Quezon and Batangas.
Zaldarriaga asserted that Meralco continues to remind customers to observe electrical safety measures, particularly in areas experiencing flooding and heavy rainfall.
“Customers may report power outages and other concerns through (our) official social media accounts on Facebook and X, via SMS at 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211, or through the Meralco Hotline at 16211,” the Meralco official advised.
