MANILA, Philippines — Philippine tennis sensation Alex Eala continued her remarkable rise on the international stage after capturing the biggest title of her young career, climbing to No. 14 in the Race to the WTA Finals following her stunning victory at the Mubadala Citi D.C. Open in Washington, D.C.
Eala delivered a memorable comeback performance in the championship match, defeating world No. 3 and tournament top seed Jessica Pegula, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, to claim the prestigious WTA 500 crown. The victory marked the first WTA 500 singles title by a Filipina and further cemented her status as one of the sport’s fastest-rising stars.
