MANILA, Philippines — A coalition of progressive organizations staged a protest action along C.M. Recto Avenue in front of Isetann Mall on Monday morning, July 27, with the Manila Police District (MPD) closely monitoring the activity.
According to the MPD monitoring report, the demonstration began at 7:08 a.m. and, as of 8:20 a.m., remained ongoing with an estimated crowd of more or less 100 participants.
The rally was attended by members of several organizations, including:
Youth for Nationalism and Democracy (YND)
Kilusan
Lupa Pilipinas
Pangisda
Pamalakaya
Workers for People’s Liberation (WPL)
Pambansang Kaisahan ng Magkabayang Magbubukid (PKMM)
Nuclear-Free Bataan Movement (NFBD)
LNo rally leader or principal personality was identified in the initial police report.
During the protest, participants displayed placards and chanted slogans criticizing the Marcos administration and government policies. Among the messages documented by authorities were:
“Joker Pax Silica!”
“Kiss My Ass BBM!”
“Yes Boss Aling Pisngi, Left or Right!”
“Your Sovereignty is Mine, Right? Amazing, It’s Gonna Be Amazing!”
“Mamamayan Magkaisa, Kumilos, Panagutin ang Gobyerno sa Krisis at Pagtataksil sa Bayan!”
“Upper Middle Economy DELULU!”
The protest centered on allegations of government failure in addressing the country’s economic challenges, national sovereignty, and other issues raised by the participating groups.
The Manila Police District assessed the situation as generally peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported as of the latest monitoring update. Police personnel remained deployed in the area to ensure public safety, maintain order, and facilitate the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Authorities continue to monitor the activity while coordinating with rally organizers to ensure compliance with existing laws and public safety regulations.
