MANILA — Eleven senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been promoted to higher ranks in the latest round of leadership appointments, including the elevation of the organization’s director for operations.
A memorandum dated July 9 showed that Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones has been promoted to the rank of major general, earning his second star in recognition of his new rank.
Also promoted are four police colonels who will receive their first star as brigadier generals: Marlo Castillo, Glenn Lonogan, Gerry Ratunil, and Rommel Rumbaoa.
Meanwhile, six lieutenant colonels have been elevated to the rank of full colonel. They are Franklin Ortiz, Laurente Acquiot, Ronald Mendoza, Joel Castro, Rico Pangilinan, and Vincent Bangwa.
The PNP said the formal donning of ranks ceremony at Camp Crame will be announced at a later date.
In a separate leadership change, Brig. Gen. Dominic Baccay has been designated as the acting regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon, succeeding Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan, who retires from the police service on July 10.
The promotions and reassignment form part of the PNP’s continuing efforts to strengthen its leadership and maintain continuity in command across key operational units.
