MANILA — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) have strengthened their long-standing partnership with the signing of a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) aimed at enhancing healthcare services for military personnel while accelerating the modernization and digital transformation of the AFP’s medical system.
The agreement was signed Wednesday in Makati City by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., Makati Medical Center Foundation Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, and Foundation President Dr. Victor Gisbert.
AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said the renewed accord expands previous partnerships forged in 2018 and 2021, which initially focused on improving services at the AFP Medical Center before extending assistance to other military hospitals across the country.
Under the new agreement, the AFP and MakatiMed will work closely to strengthen medical capabilities, promote the adoption of digital healthcare technologies, and improve the quality of medical services available to active military personnel, retirees, and their qualified dependents.
The partnership underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to ensuring that members of the armed forces receive world-class healthcare, recognizing that the well-being of soldiers is essential to maintaining an effective and mission-ready military.
Trinidad said the collaboration reflects the AFP’s continuing efforts to invest in the health and welfare of its personnel, emphasizing that a healthy and resilient force remains crucial to fulfilling its constitutional mandate of protecting the nation and serving the Filipino people.
The renewed alliance is also expected to boost the operational capacity of military medical facilities by introducing modern healthcare systems and expanding access to specialized medical expertise through MakatiMed’s support.
