MALABON CITY, Philippines — Torrential overnight rains submerged several major roads and low-lying communities across Malabon City early Wednesday, disrupting traffic and prompting local authorities to closely monitor flood-prone areas as water levels gradually receded.
The Malabon City Government reported that floodwaters ranging from 1 to 6 inches inundated several barangays, including Katmon, Concepcion, Dampalit, Ibaba, San Agustin, Tañong, and Tenajeros. Among the affected thoroughfares were General Luna Street, Don Basilio M. Sosa, Rodriguez Street, Rizal Avenue, F. Sevilla Street, and P. Aquino Street, where motorists and residents experienced temporary disruptions.
City officials said response teams were immediately deployed to monitor water levels and assess conditions in flood-hit communities as continuous rainfall raised concerns over further inundation.
As of 7:30 a.m., authorities reported that floodwaters had begun to recede in most affected areas, easing conditions and allowing traffic to gradually return to normal.
The city government, however, urged residents to remain on alert as intermittent rains could still trigger localized flooding. Motorists were advised to avoid inundated roads whenever possible and monitor official weather and flood advisories for further updates.
