MANILA — The Manila Police District (MPD) has arrested the remaining suspect linked to a theft incident in Sta. Mesa, effectively concluding its operation against the two individuals allegedly responsible for the crime that occurred on June 23.
Police identified the latest detainee as Hercules Ebuenga Delos Santos, 20, who now faces charges of theft under the Revised Penal Code.
MPD Director Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Santiago said Delos Santos was arrested on July 2 at his residence in Pasig City after authorities received information from an intermediary that the suspect was prepared to surrender.
His apprehension came several days after police captured his alleged accomplice, Alvin Ebuenga, who was taken into custody on June 26 during a separate operation.
The arrest of Delos Santos was announced during the livestream of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso’s “Talk to the People” program, where the suspect was presented before the public.
During questioning, Delos Santos admitted taking part in the theft and disclosed that he had engaged in similar illegal activities since his teenage years.
Mayor Domagoso used the occasion to reiterate his administration’s firm stance against criminality, warning offenders that law enforcement agencies will continue pursuing those who threaten the safety of Manila residents.
He stressed that the city government remains committed to maintaining peace and order, assuring the public that authorities will continue intensifying anti-crime operations to keep communities secure.
With both suspects now in police custody, investigators are preparing the necessary legal proceedings as the case moves forward.
