MANILA — Facing pressure from various groups to align itself with specific political factions, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has issued a firm refusal, stating that the military will not be drawn into partisan conflicts.
On Friday, the AFP clarified that its institutional mandate is strictly non-partisan, with its allegiance firmly dedicated to defending state sovereignty and upholding the constitutional framework. The statement served as a direct rebuke to outside elements attempting to leverage the military’s influence during a period of heightened political friction.
According to the military, the defense establishment will remain focused on its core responsibilities rather than political maneuvering. The AFP emphasized that it will continue working alongside legitimate government bodies to secure national borders, maintain domestic peace, and protect the overall welfare of citizens across the country.
