MANILA — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Tuesday that over 1.1 million minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region will receive an ₱85 increase in their daily wages, marking the biggest one-time wage adjustment in Metro Manila’s history.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino announced during a visit to Malabon City, where he met with market vendors and construction workers. He said the wage hike was implemented in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to raise the income of workers in the capital region.
The salary increase will be rolled out in two installments. Workers will receive the first ₱60 increase starting July 19, 2026, followed by an additional ₱25 on Jan. 20, 2027.
Under Wage Order No. NCR-27, employees in the non-agriculture sector will receive a new minimum daily wage of ₱780. Meanwhile, workers in agriculture, service and retail establishments with no more than 15 employees, and manufacturing companies employing fewer than 10 workers will receive a minimum daily wage of ₱743.
Tolentino thanked business owners for backing the wage increase and called on employers across Metro Manila to comply with the new wage rates.
