MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday reiterated its support for the constitutional right to peaceful assembly but reminded participants of the EDSA rally to conduct their activities responsibly and without disrupting the public.
The military acknowledged the planned gathering of a religious group at the People Power Monument in Quezon City, emphasizing that all public assemblies should follow applicable laws, local regulations, and permit requirements.
According to the AFP, it is keeping watch over the situation through its units in Metro Manila and remains in close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), which has primary responsibility for ensuring security and maintaining order.
The AFP also appealed to organizers to avoid causing unnecessary inconvenience to commuters, employees, students, and other road users as the demonstration proceeds.
It added that, as a professional and politically neutral institution, the armed forces will continue to support measures that uphold peace, public safety, and the rule of law while respecting citizens’ rights and preserving the country’s democratic stability.
