MANILA — Residents in several areas of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal should brace for scheduled power interruptions this week as the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) undertakes maintenance and system improvement activities.
Meralco said the temporary outages are necessary to facilitate the replacement, relocation, and upgrading of electricity facilities aimed at improving the reliability and safety of power distribution services.
In Pasay City, portions of the Central Business Park Island will experience power interruptions on June 24 from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. due to the replacement of an electricity pole, primary line switch, and line reconductoring works along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue.
Meanwhile, sections of Barangay Malibay in Pasay City will be affected on June 26 from 12:01 a.m. to 3 a.m. because of line reconstruction activities along Clemente Jose Street.
In Mandaluyong City, selected areas in Barangays Highway Hills and Barangka Ilaya will experience power outages from June 25 to June 26, between 11:45 p.m. and 4:45 a.m., due to the relocation of electrical facilities along Pioneer Street.
Additional interruptions are scheduled in parts of Barangays Buayang Bato and Highway Hills in Mandaluyong, portions of Barangay Cembo in Taguig City, and areas of Barangay Kapitolyo in Pasig City from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. as Meralco converts electrical facilities along Pioneer Street.
In Navotas City, sections of Barangays San Roque and Tangos will have no electricity on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. because of the replacement and installation of power facilities along Judge A. Roldan Street, Gov. A. Pascual Street, Gold Rock Street, and Bagong Kalsada Street.
In Bulacan, several communities in Angat and Bustos will experience power interruptions on June 25 and June 29 from 12:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Affected areas include Barangays Donacion, Niugan, and Paltok in Angat, as well as Barangays Bonga Mayor, Bonga Menor, Cambaog, Catacte, Malamig, San Pedro, Talampas, Tanawan, Tibagan, and Bustos Town Proper in Bustos.
Meralco said the outages are necessary for critical system improvement activities.
In Cavite, portions of Barangay Alapan 2-B in Imus City will experience a power interruption on June 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to the installation of an electricity pole and line reconductoring works.
Several barangays in the Laguna towns of Magdalena and Liliw will also be affected from June 25 to June 26 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. because of pole replacement, installation of electrical facilities, and line reconductoring projects.
Meanwhile, residents in Barangays Poblacion, San Agustin, Palma, San Gregorio, San Miguel, San Roque, and Sta. Rosa in Alaminos, Laguna will experience power interruptions on June 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. due to the relocation of hazardous utility poles affected by an ongoing road widening project.
In Rizal, portions of Joyous Heights Subdivision in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City will have no electricity on June 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the replacement of electricity poles and line reconductoring works.
Meralco advised affected customers to take necessary precautions and make preparations ahead of the scheduled outages. The utility firm said the maintenance activities are essential to ensure a more reliable and efficient power distribution system for consumers.
