
TACLOBAN CITY — A tragic shooting inside a local high school campus on Monday, June 22, 2026, has left three individuals dead and five others injured, according to local authorities.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed they have successfully apprehended two suspects linked to the violent incident, which occurred on the grounds of San Jose National High School. Officials disclosed that both suspects are currently enrolled as students at the institution.
Swift Police Intervention and Arrests
Following the outbreak of gunfire, law enforcement moved quickly to secure the campus. According to police reports, the first suspect was cornered and immediately taken into custody inside the school premises right after the shooting took place.
A second suspect managed to flee the immediate scene but was captured a few hours later.
“Our units launched an immediate hot pursuit operation, which successfully led to the tracking and arrest of the second student suspect,” a PNP spokesperson stated.
Casualties and Ongoing Investigation
The violent outbreak resulted in a total of eight casualties. Authorities confirmed that three people lost their lives in the attack. The five injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment for their wounds. The identities of the victims and the suspects are being withheld by authorities at this time.
The campus remains secured as investigators work to determine the exact motive behind the shooting and piece together how the weapons were brought onto school property.
