MANILA — Authorities in Dipaculao, Aurora have temporarily shut down a resort linked to an Ateneo activity after the deaths of student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
The local government said the resort failed to comply with Ordinance No. 2025-12, which mandates safety measures for coastal areas, water bodies, and tourism establishments operating within the municipality.
Officials stressed that the temporary closure is part of the LGU’s broader effort to enforce safety regulations and protect the public, particularly in tourism and water-based activities.
They also noted that coordination with concerned agencies is ongoing to ensure that safety standards are properly observed and to prevent similar tragedies from occurring again.
