MANILA – Most parts of Luzon will continue to experience rain as the southwest monsoon (habagat) remains dominant, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.
According to PAGASA, Metro Manila and nearby provinces such as Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will see intermittent rainfall.
The habagat will also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.
Authorities cautioned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods and landslides.
Other parts of the country will likely experience isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.
Winds ranging from moderate to strong are expected across northern and central Luzon and the western section of southern Luzon, with sea conditions ranging from moderate to rough.
PAGASA said it is tracking a low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, located 495 km northwest of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan.
The weather agency added that the system has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.
