MANILA — The Department of Energy (DOE) is once again encouraging Filipinos to participate in its “O.N.E: Oras Natin” Energy Efficiency Campaign this Saturday by switching off unnecessary lights and unplugging unused electrical appliances from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The nationwide initiative aims to promote responsible energy consumption and raise public awareness of the importance of conserving electricity through simple but meaningful actions.
Supporting this year’s campaign is Beauty pageant winner Nicole Cordoves, who has joined the DOE in inviting Filipinos to take part in the one-hour energy-saving activity through messages posted on the agency’s official social media platforms.
According to the DOE, turning off non-essential lights and disconnecting idle electrical devices for just one hour can collectively make a significant impact when practiced by millions of households and establishments across the country.
The agency said the campaign is designed to encourage communities to adopt energy-efficient habits that help reduce electricity consumption, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to environmental protection.
The “O.N.E: Oras Natin” campaign underscores the role of individual action in addressing energy and environmental challenges, with the DOE emphasizing that small efforts can lead to substantial benefits when carried out collectively.
Participants are encouraged to observe the one-hour energy-saving activity from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and become part of a nationwide effort to promote sustainability and responsible energy use.
The DOE noted that previous runs of the campaign resulted in measurable energy savings, demonstrating the positive impact of public participation in energy conservation initiatives.
