MANILA — At least 24 individuals were rescued after an under-construction building collapsed in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City early Sunday morning.
Two other individuals were immediately pulled to safety from a nearby apartment affected by the collapse as rescue teams continued operations in the area.
According to the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, an estimated 30 to 40 people may have been trapped inside the structure located along Oak Street and Matjo Toro Street.
Search and rescue operations remain ongoing as emergency responders work around the clock to locate possible survivors beneath the rubble.
Authorities said logistical and operational support for the rescue efforts is being led by the city’s DRRMO, with additional responders deployed to assist in clearing debris and securing the site.
Officials have yet to determine the exact cause of the collapse as investigations continue.
