MANILA — Andrea Del Rosario on Wednesday clarified that the controversial photo she recently posted with Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was an old image and not a recent meeting with the lawmaker.
The actress-politician faced questions from netizens after she uploaded an Instagram Story featuring herself and Dela Rosa with the caption, “Thanks for dropping by sir!”
The upload triggered an online discussion because the senator is currently being linked to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
In response to the criticism, Andrea said the photo was taken around three years ago and was reposted after it appeared in her memories.
She explained that she only shared it to join trending online memes and did not expect the post to gain massive attention.
“Guys the photo with Bato???? That’s an old photo… Maybe 3 years ago! It was a memory that showed up and I reposted,” Andrea wrote online.
Social media reactions remained divided, with some users defending the actress while others criticized the timing of the upload.
Several commenters questioned whether the post was appropriate given the senator’s ongoing legal controversy, while others speculated about his whereabouts.
The same image had previously appeared on Andrea’s social media pages during Dela Rosa’s birthday celebration last year.
Dela Rosa recently resurfaced in public during the Senate leadership change that installed Senator Alan Peter Cayetano as Senate President, replacing Senator Tito Sotto. Following the appearance, the senator reportedly left the Senate complex and has stayed away from public view.
