
MANILA — The Senate has begun distributing committee chairmanships after lawmakers retained Alan Peter Cayetano as Senate President.
Several senators were given key committee assignments as part of the chamber’s reorganization.
Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda will head the committees on Basic Education and on Culture and the Arts.
Senator Pia Cayetano was assigned to lead the committees on Energy, Ways and Means, and Sustainable Development Goals, Innovations and Futures Thinking.
Senator Bong Go will continue overseeing the committees on Health and Demography and Sports, while Senator Joel Villanueva will chair the Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada was named chairperson of the committees on National Defense and Security and Games and Amusement.
Meanwhile, Senator Rodante Marcoleta will lead the Committee on Public Services, and Senator Robin Padilla will head the committees on Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs and Public Information and Mass Media.
The Senate is expected to complete the remaining committee assignments before the end of the week.
