BAGUIO CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) graduating Class of 2026 to remain nonpartisan and uphold unwavering loyalty to the Constitution during their commencement rites at Fort del Pilar on Saturday.
Addressing 207 graduating cadets, Marcos underscored that military service must be guided by honor, integrity, and discipline as they transition into active duty within the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
He stressed that their allegiance should never be tied to political personalities or interests, but solely to the Constitution and the nation they are sworn to defend.
The President reminded the graduates that their careers would expose them to difficult decisions and challenging circumstances, but their sense of duty would guide them through.
He also reinforced the importance of the PMA Honor Code, which calls for honesty, integrity, and accountability, warning that inaction in the face of wrongdoing undermines their oath as soldiers.
“Remaining silent when wrongdoing happens is a violation of your values and a disservice to the country,” Marcos said.
Marcos further highlighted ongoing modernization efforts at the PMA, noting that cadets are now being trained in fields relevant to modern warfare and security challenges.
These include artificial intelligence, data science, Python programming, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems, which he said would help future officers adapt to evolving threats.
According to the President, these skills will allow cadets to not only respond to current risks but also anticipate future security challenges.
The PMA Class of 2026, carrying the motto “Tagapagtanggol ng Lahing Dakila at Marangal,” is composed of 207 cadets, with 142 men and 65 women.
Leading the graduates is Cadet 1st Class Christine Kaye Demisana Librada of Lipa City, Batangas, who will serve as a commissioned officer in the Philippine Army.
