MANILA — Malaysia’s passport has officially become one of the strongest in the world after climbing to 6th place in the 2026 Henley Passport Global Ranking.
The impressive jump from 12th place last year signals growing international trust and recognition for the Malaysian passport, according to the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM).
Authorities said the stronger ranking means Malaysians can now enjoy easier travel and broader access to more countries worldwide without the hassle of complicated visa requirements.
JIM also credited Malaysia’s improving global image and stronger diplomatic relations with other nations for the passport’s rapid rise in the international rankings.
“This achievement reflects the confidence and trust of the international community toward Malaysia,” the department said.
The agency added that the recognition is a major source of pride for Malaysians and highlights the country’s growing influence on the global stage.
