MANILA — Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said he has no plans to surrender in relation to the case he is facing before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Dela Rosa said he would exhaust all available legal remedies to avoid arrest over allegations tied to killings linked to the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
“We will exhaust all available legal means. Kailangan gawin natin lahat para hindi nila tayo madala doon sa The Hague,” dela Rosa said.
“Sino bang Pilipino ang gustong litisin sa ibang bansa?” he added.
The senator also called for protection for Filipinos against possible arrest by foreign courts or authorities.
His statement came after reports that the ICC had issued a warrant of arrest against him.
Dela Rosa said he is ready to face any case before the Philippine courts and would prefer to answer the charges locally instead.
He added that even President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may already be considering the possibility of experiencing what happened to former President Rodrigo Duterte.
