SENATE, Pasay City — Despite topping surveys among possible presidential candidates for the 2028 elections, former broadcaster and incumbent Senator Rafael “Raffy” Tulfo has firmly denied plans to run for president in the upcoming national and local elections.
In an interview, the veteran journalist clarified his position, saying he remains focused on his current work in the Senate and believes he can serve the public better by seeking reelection.
“Una sa lahat, buong pakumbaba ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa tiwala. Pero I said it before and I’m going to say it again, wala po akong balak na tumakbo as President sa 2028,” Tulfo said.
He added that he believes he is performing well as a senator and can contribute more in his current role as a lawmaker.
“Therefore, maaasahan niyo reelectionist ako sa 2028. My decision is final and not subject to change,” he stressed.
Tulfo also ruled out any intention of running for vice president, saying he is satisfied serving in the Senate.
