MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is tracking two low-pressure areas, one of which is likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within 24 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said the LPA near the boundary of PAR is unlikely to strengthen into a tropical cyclone.
The second LPA, currently located farther away, is expected to enter PAR during the weekend and may develop into a tropical depression within a day of its entry.
The easterlies will continue to affect weather patterns nationwide, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers.
However, Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan may see more intense weather, including scattered rains and thunderstorms that could lead to flash floods or landslides.
The rest of the country will have isolated thunderstorms.
Strong winds and rough seas are expected over extreme Northern Luzon, while other areas will have generally mild wind and sea conditions.
Daytime temperatures could reach 38°C in Tuguegarao and 35°C in Metro Manila. The heat index may climb to 44°C in Dagupan City and Mambusao, while Metro Manila may experience heat index levels between 38°C and 39°C.
