MANILA — Senator Erwin Tulfo expects Vicente Sotto III to stay on as Senate President despite ongoing political developments, including the potential transmission of impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte by the House of Representatives.
Tulfo said a leadership change in the Senate appears unlikely, noting that there may not be enough support among senators to push for a transition.
According to him, most lawmakers in the chamber continue to stand behind Sotto.
He questioned the need to tackle leadership issues at a time when the country is facing multiple challenges, such as soaring fuel prices, healthcare concerns, rising food costs, and low wages.
Tulfo stressed that Congress should focus on addressing these urgent matters instead of engaging in political maneuvering.
He also called on public officials to put aside personal and partisan interests and concentrate on solutions to the nation’s most pressing problems.
